What is Nanoscale Sculpturing?
Nanoscale Sculpturing is a new process for treating a wide variety of metallic surfaces. A special chemical treatment is used to create very fine barbed structures. Metals and plastics applied to these barbed structures bond permanently with the structured surface. This enables not only form-fit metal-plastic connections, but also very resilient metal-metal connections. The textured workpieces can also be further processed after they have been coated with another metal without the bond loosening and the coating flaking off.
The wet-chemical process we use can be applied to a wide range of aluminium alloys, including difficult-to-weld alloys and steel alloys. Virtually independent of geometries and topologies, we can realise complete structuring of surfaces as well as targeted spot structuring with the nanocale sculpturing process. We use specially developed fluids for this and also in the systems we manufacture, allowing us to create permanent connections between metals without the need for a great deal of heat, the strength of which is otherwise only achieved by welding or riveting.

About nascit
Since its foundation in October 2019, nascit GmbH has been working with the Nanoscale Sculpturing process. This process was developed and continuously refined at the Faculty of Engineering at Kiel University. Initially, the process was taken up by the university-affiliated Phi-Stone AG and used in development projects. The positive response from the project partners ultimately led to the founding of nascit GmbH, and we have been enabling industrial customers to utilise this innovative process in their products ever since.
